We are delighted to announce the 2017 line-up of writers and performers taking part in our programme for schools.
Designed to inspire and enthuse all pupils at Key Stages 2, 3 and 4, the Festival is free to all State schools as part of our commitment to young people and the community, and is funded by the Welsh Government and Hay Festival Foundation.
On Thursday 25 May (Key Stage 2) and Friday 26 (Key Stages 3 and 4), we will welcome thousands of children to our site. Pupils and teachers will have the chance to meet amazing writers from a wide range of fields – scientists, explorers, award-winning novelists and historians.
Hay Festival Schools Programme, launched in 2010, is a central pillar of the Festival’s commitment to young people, which also includes Hay Compass, Hay Academy, The Beacons Project, Hay Levels and free tickets for students.
The Schools Programme is free for all State schools and funded by the Welsh Government and Hay Festival Foundation; last year, 6,000 pupils took part.
Our festival has a fabulous bookshop where you can browse and buy, and all the authors’ books will be on sale. They will be on hand to sign books after their events, creating a wonderful opportunity for young people to meet and talk to the writers in our programme.
We look forward to welcoming you to an inspiring programme for schools at Hay Festival this May.
